It started last 2001 before the Dome Tour 2001 concert, while practicing Ayu fainted due to fatigue and she had multiple injuries because of this. This was when she noticed she was starting to lose her hearing on the left ear. Her doctors advised her to rest but she didn’t want to let the fans down so she continued with the "Dome Tour 2001", whichturned out as one of Ayu’s best concerts ever, despite her injuries and of what she felt on her left ear, the concert turned out well. Since then she started wearing earplugs. Currently it was announced on her Blog that she has lost her hearing completely on her left ear, but optimistically said that she will continue performing until her right ear loses it’s sense as well. Currently there are no signs of her right ear losing it’s function.
